Kinetic · Our story

Why Kinetic exists

A word from Sola ·

Every fitness app I tried had the same message: run 5K in 20 minutes. Hit the pace. Beat yesterday.

That's a fine philosophy, if you're an athlete. For everyone else, it's a plan that breaks you by week three. I know, because I was everyone else.

Seven years ago, I was 140 kilos. I started with walking. Then a minute of running. Then more, until I was running for hours. What I learned was this: train in the right heart-rate zone, and it counts. It really counts. Zone training carried me down to 80 kilos. No crash plans, no punishment workouts. Just showing up, in the right zone, most days.

There was an app back then that I loved: guided sessions on my watch, a voice telling me when to push and when to ease off. I recommended it to everyone I knew. Then it changed. The guidance got buried, and the app became a machine for harvesting my data. The thing I loved was gone.

So I built the thing I wished still existed.

Kinetic is free. No account. Your training data stays on your device.

That's not a marketing line. It's the whole point. I watched an app I trusted turn into a data mine, and I decided mine never would.

"Free" needs honesty, though. Some things cost me real money: hosting full-length video, running AI features on servers. So here's my deal: I'll tell you exactly why something costs money, and wherever I can, I'll hand you the free way to do it yourself. AI food logging not in your budget? iOS Shortcuts or Tasker does the same thing, and I'll show you how. A couple of features stay exclusive to supporters, as a thank-you, not a shakedown.

And nothing in Kinetic will ever guilt you. Miss a day? Nothing resets. Had a heavy week? You'll get kinder words, not a lecture. Guilt is what makes people delete fitness apps. I'm trying to keep you, not shame you.

These days I'm prepping for a natural bodybuilding competition, and flat feet have taken running off the table, so I walk. In zone, because it still counts. Different body, different goal, same philosophy, same app. Whether you're starting at 140 kilos or stepping on stage, the principle holds:

The plan should fit the person, not the other way round.

The mission is simple, and it won't change: make Kinetic available for everyone. Not everyone who can pay. Everyone.

If you train with Kinetic, I want to hear from you: what's working, what's missing, what would help you train your way. DM @kineticpacer on Instagram or TikTok, or email [email protected]. You shape what's next.

Train your way.
